Tropical Paradise
Creating a sanctuary just outside a front door.
This project is an embodiment of sustainable landscape design, deeply rooted in the principles of environmental harmony and natural beauty.
The aim here was to preserve and integrate the site's existing topography, vegetation, and natural boulders while creating a lush and tranquil landscape.
The design journey began with a commitment to the existing natural features - the topography, indigenous vegetation and boulders. These were woven into the newly created landscape, dotted with natural elements that harmonise with and accentuate the area's inherent beauty.
Pathways meander through the landscape, bordered with gravel beds. These are not just design elements but functional tools aiding in water conservation that facilitate rainwater percolation, replenishing the city's groundwater reserves. This landscape project thus stands as a beacon of sustainable design, seamlessly merging ecological function with timeless elegance.
Central to this design is a strategically placed pond. While it adds serenity and beauty to the space, it also plays a crucial role in cooling the local environment and combating the heat island effect. The natural air conditioning system that it powers brings in a fresh breeze to the semi-arid surroundings.
